SIDE Driver and APT Software Suite
To accompany the SIDE interface (designed by Candle), the SIDE driver and APT Sofware suite provides integrated hard disk partitioning and maintenance programs for SpartaDOS X. Included in the package is a complete build of SpartaDOS X 4.44 customized for use with SIDE. It includes the SIDE driver and all the APT applications pre-installed on the CAR: device.
FDISK is a powerful disk partition editor which uses drop-down menus and windowed interface. It's also compatible with KMK's S_VBXE.SYS and GR8.SYS 80 column screen drivers.
SIDE uses the APT (Atari Partition Table) standard designed by KMK. The partitioning scheme and corresponding driver API ensures media compatibility across all hard disk interfaces which adhere to the standard (currently SIDE and the SDX MyIDE driver, and IDE Plus 2.0 will soon provide APT support).
SIDE for SDX offers:
- DOS read speeds of up to 70KB/s
- Write speeds of up to 65KB/s
- Powerful and professional hard disk partitioning software (pictured above)
- Low RAM footprint and use of banked memory on expanded Ataris
- Up to 128 interchangable partitions
- FAT and APT partitions on the same CF card
- Support for Candle's SIDE Loader
